As I settle into my seat up in the top section 301 of Staples Center with my double chardonnay in hand, I look around. The banners of the 2 Stanley Cup Championships hang along with the retired jerseys of some of my most beloved players. The crowd is buzzing with anticipation and it begins. Lights are dimmed and the incredible pre-game intro appears. Clips of epic goals, fights, the thrilling sound of "He shoots...he scores!!!!!!!!!!!" over and over and over where you are SO pumped up for the game, nothing else matters in the Universe. Fans start cheering as if we just won the Stanley Cup once again. I had chills all over my body. Not because the temperature inside was most likely an awesome 60 degrees, but because I finally remembered what watching live hockey felt like. I have become so used to the banter, albeit very annoying, of Jim Fox and Bob Miller. When the first puck dropped I was mesmerized by the actual sounds of the game. Hearing the puck slap against the sticks, the grunts from the huge men skating like the wind, their bodies being checked against the glass. It's pure music to my ears. In between plays, of course, is the organ music that gets the crowd engaged in the Addams Family theme song "Canucks Suck"! The one thing LA Kings fans do well - heckle the opposing team. Some call it "unsportsmanlike" but I call it passion. There are 11 games left in the regular season. The Kings need to get their groove back and start winning like the Champions they are. Tonight they play the Devils. When I get home from work it will be half way over, hopefully the Kings will be winning, and hopefully I don't have to suffer too much of the way Jim Fox finishessentencessofast. All I know is I can't wait for my next live game...hopefully in the playoffs.
