When the world is busy falling in love with Valentine's Day and wondering what their beloved will be buying them...anticipating flowers, jewelry, etc...I am celebrating Friday the 13th. Unlucky day? Nah. It's just another day that happens to fall on a Friday and is the day before Valentine's Day. I walked into the grocery store yesterday and couldn't believe what I saw. Right when you walk in, the flowers are EVERYWHERE and I mean EVERYWHERE. All one has to do is drop in, grab a bouquet and one of the thousands of balloons and go. To me, it's such a waste of money and really, where is the sentiment? It's an obligatory "gift" and I refuse to enjoy something like that. So this morning as my husband and I were getting ready for work I said to him "Hey, please don't waste our money on stupid Valentine's Day stuff. I don't want any of it." He looked at me like I was insane and said "So you're throwing in the towel? No Valentine's celebration, nothing?" I said "Well, we're going to dinner...that's perfect. I don't need those superficial things. We're old." LOL he didn't like that last part. On my way to work he called me to tell me something he had forgot to earlier and then said "Well Happy Valentine's Day with NO flowers." I said "Yep. Besides, the REAL holiday to celebrate is today; Friday the 13th." He replied "You're evil." If you're one to believe in Superstitions, especially Friday the 13th, Google the word:
Just sayin'
